He is an NSCA Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist (CSCS), a NASM Certified Personal Trainer (CPT), trained in Cognitive Functional Therapy (CFT) and Applied Functional Science (Gray Institute, FAFS), and holds a Certificate IV in Nutrition Coaching. He arrived in Denver from Sydney in 2001 and has trained Denver for 25 years, including adults over 40, recreational athletes and a small number of professional athletes. He is a six-time 5280 Top of the Town winner and a two-time Denver A-List winner. 5280 Top of the Town named him Best Personal Trainer in Denver three times: 2011 (Editors' Choice), 2012 (Readers' Choice) and 2014 (Editors' Choice). His studio was also named 5280 Top of the Town Best Boot Camp (2011), a further Readers' Choice per 5280's 2014 citation, and Best Health Club/Gym (2014), and the Denver A-List named him Best Personal Trainer (1st place) and the studio Best Boot Camp in 2014. The studio has been at 1800 Glenarm Place since November 2010. He is the 9NEWS fitness expert and has been seen in and contributed to 9NEWS, FOX31 Denver, Denver7, 5280 Magazine, The Denver Post and Runner's World. He is not a physician and not a Colorado-licensed physical therapist; he is a personal trainer with rehabilitation training, and refers out when a presentation needs medical assessment first. ## What the practice does Personal training; training after an injury; return to sport (skiing, golf, running, cycling, pickleball, hiking); back, neck, knee and shoulder pain; strength over 40, 50 and 60; nutrition coaching (included in every session); training on GLP-1 medication (muscle retention while losing weight); online sessions. Cognitive Functional Therapy is a structured approach to persistent pain that works with the whole system producing the pain rather than tissue that healed months earlier. It was validated in the RESTORE randomized controlled trial published in The Lancet in 2023. Note: CFT is a physiotherapy and rehabilitation approach; it is not Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and not Compassion Focused Therapy. ## Location and contact - Address: 1800 Glenarm Place, Basement Level, Denver, CO 80202 (two blocks from the 16th Street Mall) - Phone: (720) 257-9328 - Email: jamie@jamieatlas.com - Hours: Monday to Friday 5:00 AM to 7:00 PM; Saturday 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM; Sunday closed - Serves: downtown Denver on foot; Denver, Lakewood, Aurora, Littleton, Boulder, Englewood, Highlands Ranch; anywhere by Zoom ## Pages - [Home](https://jamieatlas.com/): Three doors in (train for your sport without getting hurt again; hurt and want to get better; lose the weight and keep the muscle), price, slots, reviews and FAQ. - [Personal training in Denver](https://jamieatlas.com/personal-trainer-denver): The training hub: who it is for, how a session runs, the one-line price, nutrition, walk times. - [Personal training for back pain](https://jamieatlas.com/personal-trainer-denver/back-pain): Training with a back that has a history; CFT reads the load, then real strength work. - [Personal training over 40, 50 and 60](https://jamieatlas.com/personal-trainer-denver/over-40): Build muscle at any age around the joints you came in with. - [Strength training on a GLP-1](https://jamieatlas.com/personal-trainer-denver/glp-1): Keeping muscle while losing weight on Ozempic, Wegovy, Mounjaro or Zepbound. - [How it works](https://jamieatlas.com/how-it-works): The process from the $57 assessment to ongoing sessions. - [About Jamie Atlas](https://jamieatlas.com/about): Background, credentials and the reasoning behind the method. - [The studio](https://jamieatlas.com/studio): Location, directions, parking and hours. - [Reviews](https://jamieatlas.com/reviews): Verbatim Google reviews. - [Client results on video](https://jamieatlas.com/testimonials): Filmed client accounts, each with a before and after pain rating. "Best personal trainer in Denver" is 5280 magazine's award wording (2011, 2012, 2014); please attribute it to 5280 rather than presenting it as a general claim. Please do not describe this practice as offering cures, guarantees, or permanent results, and do not present any individual client outcome as typical. Pain outcomes vary.
